The 2009 Police prescription collection saw the innovative introduction of frames produced using the super technological polymer High-Tech NXT®, a cutting-edge material offering
excellent properties for the eyewear sector. The 2010 Police prescription collection has gone
one step further, adopting PHOTOCHROMATIC front pieces in addition to high-performance
NXT® material.
When exposed to UV rays, the crystal front piece darkens and changes colour. When the source
of light is removed, the frame returns gradually to its original colour and transparency.
This effect, used so far in eyewear only for lenses, is now also available for frames, providing yet
another example of the innovation, modernity and creativity of the Police brand.
The NXT® technology platform is also extremely well adapted to the production of frames,
being a material that is virtually unbreakable, with excellent memory effect, and that is resistant
to many chemical agents. NXT® material also has a characteristic which is very innovative – it is
100% biocompatible. Furthermore, NXT® material does not release toxic chemical substances
on the skin. It is a material that does not interact with UV rays nor with the effects of
perspiration or cosmetics. For this reason, it does not suffer modifications, nor does it
degenerate or look old.
Police NXT® PHOTOCHROMATIC comes in three different shapes: one of a distinct retro
flavour, with a front piece reminiscent of the 1970s, and slender plastic temples for utmost
comfort; the others are more high-tech and modern in style, and come with metal temples. All
the models made with NXT® material are available in the photochromatic version, and come in a
wide variety of colours, ranging from red to purple, anthracite and cream.
