Over the years of being in the market,
EGMA has proven its success in developing
its units such as Eyewear, Ophthalmic
Lenses, Egma Lens Factory
and, of course, Instruments. This 2011,
this renowned company in the optical
industry has only gotten bigger and
better most especially with its Instruments
business.
Venturing in a number of launches and
developments, EGMA has only reinstated
its stature in the market. To share with us
thorough information about the company’s
continued success in distributing
instruments in the Middle East, Eye
Zone Magazine spoke to Mr. John Tawil,
EGMA’s Business Unit Manager in
Medical Instruments. Read on as he discussed
points on EGMA’s continued dealings with Indo,
plus the remarkable additions such as Visslo, Charops
and Rodenstock Instruments.
In place with Indo
As a regional leader, EGMA only deals with the bests
in worldwide market. It was in 2006 when it began its
dealings with the Spanish multinational company that
has over 70 years of experience in designing ophthalmic
equipment. Since then, the relationship of these
two giants in the optical industry has been solid and
even expanding.
Back in late 2010, Mr. Tawil noted that Indo has gone
through a major change in its internal management
– as a result of European protective sanction called
Chapter 11. This change has rebuilt the company because
from having three departments (Lens, Frames
and Instruments), Indo has established a single entity
that focuses on its strongest unit which is the Instruments.
Moreover, the company has retained its set of
employees, ensuring that the quality of its production is
not compromised with the corporate changes. In fact, it
was early this year when Indo re-launched its company
as sole instrument entity, allowing it to reinstate itself as
a leader in quality machineries that invests in research,
innovation and development.
With these exciting changes in Indo, Mr. Tawil mentioned
that EGMA is happy for its continued business
development with Indo, and that everything is in place
in their relationship now more than ever.
Additions in early 2011
By end of last year, Mr. Tawil said that EGMA observed
the bigger demand in the market in terms of quality
and affordable instruments. The vision of filling the
gap in the market, EGMA realized that it needed to add
more in this department. So right before announcing
in Vision-X exhibition, EGMA started its business with
Charops.

Charops is a brand name from Huvitz Shanghai, which
has been invested by Huvitz Korea and established in
2007. Huvitz manufactures Auto Ref/Keratometers,
Auto Phoroptors and Chart Projectors based on the Huvitz
Korea optics, mechanics, electronics and network
technology. The technical know-how of production
and quality control introduced from Huvitz Korea guarantees
qualified and affordable products. Being under
Huvitz Shanghai, it is ensured to continuously and definitely
improve production methods and technology to
cut costs and provide quality beyond the industry standard
giving more benefit to the customers.
At the same time, Mr. Tawil noted that they introduced
higher level of edging machines through Visslo. Visslo is
one of the fastest growing Korean manufacturer of Partnerless
Lens Edgers and Blockers. The company started
its operations in 2004 and is aiming cost effective, fully
automatic, and accurate equipment. Visslo edging instrument
are fully computerised which has the most
accurate results compare to other edgers. Unbelievably
it keeps lowest price in the market in spite of its
magnificent capacity. As of the moment, they distribute
Visslo F8 which has been designed for easy functioning.
It has a touch pad rather than the normal switch; a 25
degree inclined tracer, which makes loading and unloading
of the frame convenient; the new DSP (Digital
Signal Processor), enabling a faster edging speed; and a
colour LCD screen, which helps you through the whole
operation.
While the new brands were pouring in, EGMA remained
to distribute View M Technology in the market. View M
Technology was established in March 2008 and developed
an embedded type LCD POLA Chart System (VLC-
1900P) for the first time in the country and started the
domestic and overseas of the product in September
2008. The mission of View M Technology is to grow up
to be first-grade professional optical device company
that researches, develops and produces the world’s
best-level digital optical devices to help the people to
open healthy societies through the development of
innovational optical devices based on its affluent technology
and experience.
Exciting news before 2011 ends
The year won’t be over without exciting news from
EGMA. According to Mr. Tawil, the company has now
sealed the deal of being an official distributor for
Rodenstock Instrument. Known for being a five-star in
optical industry, Rodenstock Instrument becomes far
better with its relationship with Japanese manufacturer
Tomey. Starting 2011, Tomey has developed 100% exclusive
high-technology and innovative machinery only
for the German company, Rodenstock.
As of this last quarter, EGMA has been
into soft launch of the equipment under
Rodenstock Instrument. Stay tuned
with the official launch in the upcoming
Vision-X exhibition in Dubai in
2012.
Delivering quality products and service
Because of EGMA’s experience in the
business, and through its strong relationship
with Indo since 2006, the
company has been well aware of the
developments in the cutting-edge
technology that arises from the market.
Mr. Tawil assured that EGMA does
extensive research and first-hand study
in the equipment and machineries that it offers its clients.
They guarantee that they have tried on the quality
of the products before introducing in the market.
EGMA also promises high quality service most especially
in training the customers on how to manage the new
technology in their sophisticated machineries. Mr. Tawil
said that the clients are give appropriate time to work
around the machines, and that they can call EGMA at
any time if anything comes up. Training is a must, he
said. But with getting rare calls for trouble shooting, Mr.
Tawil knows that the machines they installed for their
customers are of good quality.
With the assurance of quality products and efficient service,
no wonder that EGMA is creating wonders in the
field of Instruments. These and more are to be expected
out of this regional leader, so better watch this space
for more information and announcements in the future.
